Sharing Stories through sound
Founded in 2014 as a trombone quartet, Skinny Lips and the Sound Malfunction (SLSM) was created by Callan Milani and Danny Lawlor to share their love of music and laughter with diverse audiences in interactive concert experiences. SLSM has developed a dynamic artistic presence in the United States, having been awarded grants from the Colburn New Venture Foundation and Coretet for original programming.
Additionally, SLSM is a Street Symphony Featured Artist and has an active community engagement series in the Los Angeles area, working closely with local organizations. Skinny Lips and the Sound Malfunction’s repertoire includes original music, storytelling, commissioned animation, and educational productions. SLSM has performed and presented at the NAMM Conference (2016), the International Trombone Festival (2017), at the 2016 San Diego Trombone Day, and as soloists with the Colburn Orchestra.
